Perhaps it’s just because it’s Christmas, but the festive spirit can make us all into craftspeople. We’re all getting practice decorating Christmas trees – not to mention Channel 4’s annual burst of inspiration #KirstiesVintage.
Hubbard’s Cupboard – a shop in Cardiff’s High Street Arcade – has a Handmade Christmas Campaign going on right now. As you know, this initiative aims to encourage the people of Cardiff to donate their handmade Christmas decorations for sale in the shop with all proceeds going to the local charity Tŷ Hafan Children’s Hospice. A lot of keen crafters have already made their unique donations, and it seems craft creativity is rising in popularity.
I went to Queen Street, one of Cardiff’s busiest shopping streets, to ask people whether they ever give handmade gifts and what they thought was special about them.
